Kobus Lotz was born in Reitz in the Free State in 1962.  He is a self taught artist and only started painting seriously in 2012.  

Although he started off working in acrylics, Lotz now works mostly in oils on canvas. He prefers doing portraits but also enjoys painting landscapes and animal studies. He has had one solo exhibition in Bloemfontein at the contemporary Gallery on Leviseur, and has been part of four group exhibitions. He has done several commissions for clients in South Africa and abroad.  

He lives and works in Bloemfontein.
